Early Life of Bharat Bhushan Bharat Bhushan was born in Meerut in the state of Uttar Pradesh on 14th June 1920. His father was Raibahadur Motilal who worked as the government pleader of Meerut. Bharat Bhushan lost his mother to death when he was only two years old. His elder brother R. Chandra was also associated with celluloid as a film producer and was the owner of the Ideal Studio at Lucknow. Following their mother's death, the brothers moved to Aligarh for staying with their grandfather. Bharat Bhushan completed his schooling and also graduated from Aligarh. He ventured into the acting world against the wishes of his father. He shifted to Calcutta (now Kolkata) to join films however destiny established him in Bombay (now Mumbai). Career of Bharat Bhushan Bharat Bhushan made his cinematic debut in the year 1941 with the Kidar Sharma flick, Chitralekha. The film was a success. Subsequently Bharat Bhushan struggled for more than a decade to gain recognition in the Hindi film industry. The turning point of his career came with the 1952 film Baiju Bawra which earned him a legendary status and overnight stardom along with Naushad Ali, Meena Kumari and Mohammed Rafi. Basant Bahar is another prominent film in which he appeared in the lead role. He has also essayed historical and mythological characters in Hindi films, garnering applauses for the same. As a scriptwriter he had worked for the movie Dooj Ka Chand, Basant Bahar, Nayi Umar Ki Nayi Fasal, Barsat Ki Raat and others. He had also produced the film Dooj Ka Chand. For his film Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the year 1954 he received the second Filmfare Best Actor Award. Bharat Bhushan had featured in most of the soulful and great melodies of that era, sung by eminent singers like Mukesh, Talat, Manna Dey and Rafi. Bharat Bhushan was a prominent star and a very talented actor of the 1950s and 1960s era in Bollywood however he was often seen portraying roles of tragic musicians in the flicks. His work in Bollywood continued till 1990s. Personal Life of Bharat Bhushan Bharat Bhushan was married to Sharadha who was the daughter of Zamindar Raibahadur Budha Prakash and belonged to a well known family in Meerut. The couple had two daughters named Anuradha and Aparijitha. His wife Sharadha died owing to labour complications after the birth of their second child in the early 60s which was soon after the release of the film Barsaat Ki Raat. His daughter Anuradha had polio-associated complications. In the year 1967 he got married to actress Ratna who acted with him in the flick Barsaat Ki Raat.
