Dadasaheb Phalke Award

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is a yearly award given by the Indian government to honour lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. It was introduced in the year 1969 to mark the birth centenary year of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is regarded as the father of Indian cinema. The award for a particular year is given during the end of the following year along with the National Film Awards.
