Falguni Nayar was born in 1963 in Mumbai. Falguni Nayar holds a Masters degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad where she majored in Finance. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics.

Career of Falguni Nayar
Falguni joined a management consulting firm, AF Ferguson and Co., in 1985.Thereafter she shifted to Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd in 1993 to head its mergers and acquisitions business. She set up the Kotak office in London in 1994 and worked with Kotak`s joint venture partner Goldman Sachs for six months, before setting up Kotak`s US operations in 1997. She came back to India in 2001 to head the institutional equity business at Kotak and now heads the investment banking division too.

In her current role, Falguni oversees the firm`s activities in equity raising, private equity placements, mergers and acquisitions and corporate advisory. She also oversees the firm`s Institutional Equities business.

During the eight years she spent overseas, Falguni built some strong institutional relationships and was also involved in numerous equity transactions. Under her leadership the firm witnessed significant growth in terms of its revenues, market share and competitive positioning. Falguni oversaw the successful placement of various IPOs and also led the company`s marketing efforts on GDRs and convertibles.

Falguni received the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) award for top woman achiever in the field of banking. She is a founding member of the Asia Society in India.

Personal Life of Falguni Nayar
Falguni Nayar is married to Sanjay Nayar who is the chief executive officer of Citibank in India. They married in 1987 and have twins, a girl and a boy.
