Zee Jagran
Zee Jagran is the first of its kind in the country that attempts to provide holistic entertainment to the audience.

Zee JagranA religious channel started by Zee TV network. When there are so many other religious channels currently on air how could zee remain behind in this genre? This channel was launched in the early 2004. This channel is the latest and the 19th from the Zee stable. A 24 hour socio-spiritual offering, Zee Jagran was born amidst strong branding, wide accessibility, powerful infrastructure and global transmission and content creation standards that puts the channel above any other channel in this genre. Zee Jagran is the first of its kind in the country that attempts to provide holistic entertainment to the audience with, alternate lifestyles programs, interactive astro solutions, spiritual content, mythological & social movies, serials. At the same time religious discourses of various gurus and spiritual masters are also aired on the channel. Keeping these factors in mind and with our eyes on global markets and the younger segment of viewers, the channel today offers Holistic Entertainment" with an objective of Enriching day to day life of the common man.

morari bapuZee Jagran represents a mix of seven elements called Joy, Peace, Celebration, Hope, Silence, Balance and Awakening that form the core a happy and content living. Jagran was primarily positioned as a religious entertainment channel as opposed to a generic religious channel. The base was later broadened from a conventional target audience [55 years and above] to rope in the 30-plus segment as well as children. Apart from their regular prime time discourses they have a mix of mythological movies, religious programmes on organic living, and interactive astro-solutions in English and Hindi. They have select gurus like Satya Sai Baba, Guru Ma, Sudhanshuji Maharaj, Morari Bapu and Brahmakumari for their channel. Jagran`s USP is religious entertainment. It is difficult for people to watch discourse after discourse without break. That`s why they have Ramayana, Mahabharata and Jai Santoshi Maa. Moreover, religion and comedy have a very high repeat value; the other reason for the model, he says, was obviously to woo advertisers. Jagran`s religious entertainment has notched a sizeable 1.2 TRP.

Along with all the other spiritual and religious programmes like all the other channels, this channel also features a twenty-minutes programmes produced by the Prashanthi Digital Studio are telecast four times a week on Mondays,Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 5:30 PM IST.

The channel also started a new series `JAHAN JAHAN RAM CHARAN CHALI JAHIN`. The serial is telecast each Sunday morning from 9 to 9.30 am. It traces the 15, 000 kms yatra undertaken by Lord Rama during His 14 years exile from Ayodhya till return to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. The channel also has a discourse on various aspects of astrology by Ashok Bambi, who has been a regular column in The Hindustan Times for the last five years where he writes on national and international personalities under the column called `Star treck`.

The Tarot ShowTargeting a common audience couldn`t have been more challenging for these channels, what with most of them having to invite the same spiritual leaders. The most popular faces on Aastha, Sanskar, Sadhna and Jagran, targeting the Hindus, are Sant Morari Bapu, Guru Maa, Sukhbodhanandji, Sudhanshu Maharaj and Asaram Bapu. Most of the funds for religious channels come from advertisers. As of now Jagran has half a dozen advertisers like MDH, Night Queen and Ashok Masalas coming in but soon they claim to have more clients in the fast moving commercial goods category. Telecom players and makers of specialized health products and gemstones are also interested in advertising. Jagran also has programmes like "The Great Indian Astro Show", "The Tarot Show", "Nirvana at 9", etc. to attract the attention of those looking for interactive shows on these subjects. Very soon, they will have more new shows. For instance, a cookery show, Satvik Rasoi. The channel believes that today`s youth does not want to be preached but wants answers to their direct questions. That is the reason why in most of their shows, one can SMS or dial a number for queries. And these shows get most calls from youngsters. For instance, The Tarot Show where youths in the age group of 22-23 years often call in to ask questions.
