Engineering Courses in India
Engineering Courses in India are offered to the students through several reputed colleges across the sub-continent.

 Among the numerous courses that are being offered by the Indian educational institutions, the engineering courses are undoubtedly one of the most sought after ones. India has a long tradition of engineering education and the beginning traces back to the year 1847. After that, the number of engineering colleges and institutions in India from then on has been increasing with each passing day. Almost all the 27 states in India house at least one top class engineering institution. The engineering courses in India are offered to the students by both the government and private engineering institutions.

The All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) was established in 1945 for governing all kinds of activities regarding the engineering courses in India. The AICTE is in charge of coordinating and managing the standards of the institutions providing engineering courses in India. The engineering institutions offer the courses to the students in various ways. There are some short-term and long-term courses, apart from the part-time and full-time programmes.

The engineering courses in India are also offered in both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with different course durations. There is degree, diploma or certificate engineering courses and the universities offer the courses to the working people, as well. The students are admitted in the engineering courses through separate entrance tests. The courses are offered the Central universities, the IITs, the regional engineering colleges, the technological universities and the institutions outside the university system, as well. These colleges comprise both the governmental and private ones.

The institutions offer the engineering courses in India, in all the major branches of engineering. The branches include Information Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Software Engineering, Marine Engineering etc. The institutions like Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institute of Technology, Birla Institute of Technology Science, Bhabha Institute of Engineering and Technology, Haldia Institute of Technology, National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) etc are considered to be some of the top ones for offering engineering courses in India.
