Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bangaluru is catering to needs of weaker section of society in Karnataka.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC) is considered as one of the top most medical institutions in the state of Karnataka. The college was established by the Ananda Social and Educational Trust on 6th July, 1981 and is located at Cooke Town, Bangaluru in Karnataka. The college was founded to make a positive contribution for the betterment of SC and ST people by opening up new avenues for them to find better slots in the social hierarchy. The college is named after `Bharatha Rathna` Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The college is recognised by the supreme statutory body for medical education in India, the Medical Council of India (MCI), Delhi.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bangaluru, Karnataka Being affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangaluru offers a large number of courses to the students. The courses are offered in various fields of medical science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college offers the courses according to the new rule and regulations of the RGUHS and MCI. The college offers the courses like MBBS, B.Sc. MLT, B.P.T, B.Sc. Radiography, MD, MS, PG Diploma etc and it admits several students in these courses, every year. The students are bound to undergo Compulsory Rotating Internship to the satisfaction of the University for a period of 12 months, after passing the Final MBBS Examination. This is a criterion for the students to be eligible for the award of the degree of MBBS and full registration. The students are also required to do Community health work like Community medicine including Rural Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatrics etc.

Apart from the MBBS course, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangaluru also offers a large number of PG courses and provides research facilities. The college offers postgraduate courses in 18 disciplines in 1992-93 and it is quite active in conducting research in various branches. Many of the departments of BRAMC, Bangaluru are carrying research work, along with P.G. training. The college has established a medical education unit according to the guidelines of MCI and RGUHS and the unit is functioning to promote academic awareness. The college also conducts annual conferences, seminars, quiz programmes, C.M.E etc. on a regular basis.

The postgraduate courses that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangaluru offers in 19 disciplines, include MD in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, OBG, Paediatrics, Radiology, Dermatology, and Anesthesiology etc. The MS courses offered by the BRAMC, Bangaluru are in the branches like General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology etc. The college also offers several Diploma courses like DA, DCH, DCP, DGO, D. Ophthalmology, D. Orthopaedics and DVD.

Apart from offering the above mentioned courses, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangaluru has two teaching hospitals to meet the requirements of MCI, as well. The hospitals are named as the AMC Hospital and KCG Hospital. While the AMC Hospital is being run by Ananda Trust, the State Government of Karnataka is managing the KCG Hospital. Both the hospitals are catering to the needs of the weaker section of the society and they are manned by specialist doctors. The hospitals possess all the latest diagnostic equipments and treatment facilities and the patients get medical care and treatment free of cost, in these hospitals. The college has arranged separate hostel facilities for the male and female students, as well.
