 One of the major differences between the architecture of Hindu and Jain temples is the use of the building material. While the majority of the Hindu temples were carved out of either stone or rock the Jain places of worship were etched out of marbles. White marbles were preferred to other colours. The art and architecture of the Jain community also differed completely from the Muslim art as well. The Jain sculptures and architecture were primarily notable for their splendour. The brilliance of the Jain sculptures can be seen from the fine images of the Tirthankaras.
Columned chambers, inner sanctums, domes and pointed spires are the common elements of the Jain shrine architecture. The Jain sculptures in the following religious places are worth checking out:
