Ted Turner, of the Turner Broadcasting System, founded CNN or Cable News Network in the year 1980.

CNNTed Turner, of the Turner Broadcasting System, founded CNN or Cable News Network in the year 1980. CNN introduced the idea of 24-hour television news coverage, and celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 1, 2005. CNN is rated as America`s Number one cable news network. CNN broadcasts primarily from its headquarters at the CNN Center in Atlanta, Time Warner Center in New York City, and studios in Washington, DC. CNN launched its companion network, Headline News, called CNN II, in the year 1982. this channel featured a continuous 24-hour cycle of 30-minute news broadcasts. Headline News broke from its original format in 2006 with the addition of Headline Prime.

Despite its domestic standing, CNN remains a distant second in international news coverage, reaching just over half of the audience of the older BBC News. Unlike BBC`s network of reporters and bureaus, CNN International makes extensive use of affiliated reporters that are local to, and often directly affected by, the events they are reporting. CNN also has a website, cnn.com, the International ediation of which is constantly updated to bring the top news stories from around the world. Dedicated staff in London and Hong Kong, working with colleagues at CNN`s world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and with bureaus worldwide, produces it. CNN.com relies heavily on CNN`s global team of almost 4,000 news professionals.

CNN NewsroomCNN hosts a number of shows. Some of them are American Morning, CNN Newsroom, Your World Today, The Situation Room, Larry King Live, House Call, This Week at War, CNN special Investigations Unit and the like.

CNN has news ranging from Politics to entertainment to finance to sports and everything else one can even think of. Silicon Valley and the worlds largets Tech Companies had been explore to see how their workplaces score. CNN became famous with its special coverage of the 9/11 and the Iraq War. CNN was the first channel to break news of the September 11 attacks. Archives of the same are still available on the CNN website. CNN had also launched two speciality news channels for its American viewers, CNNSI and CNNfn. Both shut down after nine years of being on air, in the year Dec 2002. CNN and Sports Illustrated`s partnership continues today online at CNNSI.com. CNNfn`s former website now redirects to money.cnn.com, a product of CNN`s strategic partnership with with Money Magazine.

CNN - Your World Today interview by Jim Clancy(second from left)In the year 2005 CNN International aired a two-hour programme with particular focus on Indo-Pak relations. The first hour was a documentary split almost evenly between India and Pakistan. Interviewees on the Indian side included Nusli Wadia, Onkar Kanwar of Apollo Tyres, Bal Thackeray, Dr Devi Shetty, Mahesh Bhatt and Rani Mukherjee who was described as the `Nicole Kidman of India`! On the Pakistan side the human cost of partition was highlighted through interviews with Syeda Begum and Professor Beg, who left his father and brother behind in India, never to meet again. Interviews with Pakistani film stars Reema Khan and Meera, Noor Fatima`s father, as well as Mohammad Yahya Mujahid of the Lashkar-e-Taiba completed the scenario. The second hour consisted of a live audience and panel interaction conducted rather by Jim Clancy. Kashmir did remain the core issue of every discussion.
