Ajnana is a technical term used in the Vedanta system, which means `ignorance`.

Ajnana is a technical term used in the Vedanta system, which means `ignorance`. The Vedantists declare it a somewhat not to be called positively either entity or non-entity not a mere negation but the opponent of knowledge. It consists of the three chains. According to the Naiyayikas Ajnana, it is merely the non-existence or negation of Jnana.
