The sun is an astral body, which is a huge natural magnet and is said to possess enormous attractive power. It attracts all other planets, which keep rotating round the sun under its magnetic influence. The earth rotates on its own axis and also revolves around the sun. The moon is another astral body, which is also a great natural magnet. The magnetism in the moon has great influence on human lives like the dark and bright fortnights happen in the earth due to this. Even the daily routine of human lives is affected by the magnetism of the moon. Therefore, earlier in ancient times, the Indian calendars were made with reference to the moon. The dates of women`s menstrual periods were also counted with reference to the lunar calendar. The magnetism of the moon affects the time and date of observance of many festivals in the Hindus as well as in the Muslims. These are determined with reference to the appearance of the moon.

The moon through its attractive magnetic force causes the tidal waves in the seas. In the same way, the human bodies consisting of about seventy per cent of liquids are greatly influenced by the moon`s magnetic affect. According to the statistics, it is proved that the body fluids also flow more freely at the time of full moon. There is huge affect of the magnetism of the moon on the lunatics. It is believed that they get their worst attacks on full moon days. The term `lunatic` was also derived from the word `Luna` which means the `moon`.

A custom of fasting on new moon and on full-moon days was introduced and its benefits were proved scientifically. The magnetic influence of the moon is then said to help in reducing the body fluids and in maintaining proper equilibrium in the body. The magnetic effect of the moon also affects several other diseases as well as many medicines. During the days of full moon, some diseases become worse and some medicines work better when applied on full-moon days. The asthmatic patients are given certain Ayurvedic medicine on the night of the `Sharad Poornima` i, e, on full-moon night, which generally falls in the month of October each year. This particular medicine should be taken with kheer in the early hours of the morning after keeping the kheer openly exposed to the especially effective magnetic rays of the moon throughout that night. The special magnetic effect of the moon-rays remains more effective on that night. So, if the medicine is taken that night in that way, the same medicine will work better. This gives an idea about the important role played by the magnetic force of the moon on our health and lives.

Likewise, other astral bodies such as the planets also have their magnetic effect on our lives. Such effect of the different planets along with that of the sun and the moon forms the basis of astrological calculations and predictions. Hence, all the planets and astral bodies in space have their magnetic powers and give out astral emanations, like the terrestrial objects.

These astral bodies apply their magnetic influence upon each other as well as upon every organised being, including human beings, in proportion to their size, their distance and the velocity of their revolutions. The strength of the magnetic field of the Earth is about 0.5 oersted while that of the Sun is 25 to 50 oersted i.e., 50 ft KT times greater. So, from all these, it can be concluded that the earth, the sun, the moon and all other astral bodies have their huge magnetic influence on our lives.
