Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, a premier college of commerce of Delhi University was set up in 1984.

Established in 1984, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is a commerce college under the Delhi University. Taking inspirations from the precepts of Sikh Gurus, the college aids the students for imbibing moral and spiritual values of worldwide receipt. Over the years it has come forth as an excellent institution moving ahead towards extraordinary heights. Keeping in mind the fact that due to interdependence of national economic and commercial relations, vital changes need to be introduced within the academic curriculum, the college also enmeshes both resources and environment for all round personality development of its students.

Strategically speaking Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is situated near the T.V. Tower. Pitam Pura, the place where the college is located, is run under the sponsorship of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, a constitutional body formed under an `Act of Parliament`. The college derives its name from the 10th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Pitam Pura, Delhi Courses like B.Com. (Hons.), B.Com. (Pass), B.A. (Hons.) Economics, B.A. (Hons.) Business Economics, B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science, Diploma in Business Journalism and Corporate Communication (DBJCC), Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing (PGDIM) are offered. All these undergraduate courses are approved by the Delhi University.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce College is a co- educational institution that imparts teaching in the medium of English language, possessing modern infrastructure including airy classrooms, expansive grounds, and highly sophisticated computer labs. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce library was formed along with the foundation of the college itself. At present this well equipped library has a huge collection of over 22500 books, fifty bound volumes of significant journals and also approximately three hundred CDs on different subjects. The library has a vista of books on subjects like commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Management, General Studies and Sikhism. On a regular basis this library takes subscription of about twenty-five newspapers, fifty national and international journals and magazines on wide varied subjects. The college started designing for library computerisation in 2001. The library acquired NETTLIB library software in 2001. Catalogue of almost all the books have been created. Some of the library facilities such as sorting, CAS, OPAC search, have already been computerised.

The library though has been transferred to a new library building that is multistoried, centrally air conditioned and ultramodern. This library is the first centrally air conditioned College Library under University of Delhi. From this library students can easily acquire facilities of the microfilming section, reprography section, Internet facilities, a tiny computer centre, an audiovisual room etc .A Sikh Study Centre with up-to-date amenities is integrated within the library. The Book Bank and Student Aid Fund sections lend textbooks to the worthy and poor students. The photocopier service of the Library aids in making photocopies of articles/texts for the students and faculty members from the library treasure.

Apart from educational brilliance, emphasis is given on developing personality and group dynamism. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce houses clubs and societies providing plentiful scope for student participation in varied co-curricular activities and also help them in building up leadership qualities, a feel of social responsibility and speechmaking. These include Commerce Society, Economics Society, Association of Students of Business Economics, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha, Divinity Society. Cultural festival `Carnival` and other festivals like Foundation Day are organised, enriching the experience of the students. To promote sports, grounds dedicated to cricket, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis etc. of national standard have been developed. National Service Scheme wing is active in promoting social awareness programmes. `Amrit` is the annual college magazine that publishes articles written by teachers and students, with reviews of several cultural, educational, social and sports activities that are held within the college premises. It has 3 sections namely English, Hindi and Punjabi. A student editor, under the guidance of a teacher, does the work of editing every section of the magazine.

There are several facilities available for the students in Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce. Educatees and staffs of this college can avail banking facilities also. The college cafe is an ideal hub for students` to relax. They can taste a range of snacks and drinks available here at an affordable price. The placement cell of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is created for leading and also inciting the students about placement and career chances. A handful of esteemed companies both of national and international fame throng the college for campus interviewing and simultaneous employment.

Incentives in the form of scholarships are provided to the students on the basis of merit and financial need.
