National Subhas Institute of Technology is a premier college of engineering located in Delhi.

Located at Dwarka, Delhi, the National Subhas Institute of Technology has a campus encompassing an area of nearly 145 acres in the midst of lush greenery. Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is presently the most popular institute of engineering amongst the students due to its excellent records of getting placements.

With an objective of producing more and more competent people in the genre of technology, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology or NSIT was set up in July 1983 by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. At that time it was named the Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT). Within a time period of twenty-four years Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology has engraved a name of distinction in the genre of `higher technical education`.

Initially it began with the undergraduate academic program in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering with only a handful of students numbering forty-five under the `Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi`.

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology. New programs in the field of `Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering` were introduced in the subsequent years. Then in 1986 administrative autonomy was bestowed upon the institute. 12th June 1987 is considered a landmark as the college received registration as a Society in the name of "Delhi Institute of Technology" (DIT) under the `Societies Registration Act No. XXI of 1860 (Registration No.S-17742 of 1987)`. From the day of its inception till 1998, the Institute was functioning from its old campus at Old I.G. Block, Kashmere Gate, Delhi - 110 006. On January 2, 1997 the Institute was formally shifted to its newly built campus at Dwarka. A.B. Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the new campus. In the same year the Institute was renamed as "Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology" (NSIT) `vide Gazette notification No. D.L. - 33002/ 97 dt. 20.2.1997`.

Down the years Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology has bagged several awards. Certificate was granted to this esteemed college for the best performance on an overall basis in the genre of technical education by the Indian Society of Technical Education. Dataquest ranked NSIT as the 10th best Engineering College in India in 2005. The same organisation in the same year also ranked Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology as the fifth best in respect of campus placements amongst the engineering colleges of the country. In 2007, the famous magazine India Today ranked the institute as the 19th best engineering institute in the whole country.

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology initiated courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It also started Ph.D. programmes since 1989. All these courses are affiliated to the Delhi University. Undergraduate Courses offered include-- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in various subjects like Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Manufacturing Process and Automation Engineering, Information Technology, Biotechnology. One can also opt for Masters in Technology ( M.Tech)-full time and M.Tech part time. Subjects in the M.Tech courses include Information Systems, Signal Processing , Process Control.

Besides excelling in the field of academics, special attention is emphasized on the overall development of the students` character. For nurturing the cultural festivity and amusement, special festivals like Resonanz, Innovision, Moksha are celebrated.

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology houses wings of famous technical societies. These include-- Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society (ISA) , Computer Society of India (CSI), Neighbourhood Project (Social Service Club), The NSIT Quiz Club, The Dramatics Club, Crescendo- the music society, The Book Club, Crosslinks - The media management and students publication group. NSIT Racers is participating in SAE India event of making an ATV called Mini Baja. NSIT Motorsports was involved in making an ATV for participating in the prestigious Mini Baja South Africa in October 2007.

Placement cell of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, as has been already mentioned is doing a very good job. Special campus recruitment programs are organized. Close contact between this institute and various transnational companies has increased first-rate placement recordings over the years.

There are other kinds of facilities that are provided to the students of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology. Special financial help is also imparted to the students pursuing Phd. Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology does a praiseworthy job in giving training to students so that they can excel in technical research and also in extra-curricular activities.
