The Sardar Patel Stadium or Motera Stadium has a slower pitch now a days.

Sardar Patel  Stadium, Motera, AhmedabadSardar Patel Stadium is located at the outskirts of Ahmedabad at the bank of river Sabarmati. The Sardar Patel stadium can accommodate about 48,000 spectators. The stadium was built on a 50-acre land donated by the State Government and took only nine months to be completed in the year 1982.-

The stadium is popularly known as Motera stadium. The first test held in Motera stadium was the match between India versus West Indies in the year 1983. The first One Day international played here was between India and Australia in 1984.Another important test match was between India and Pakistan in the year 1986-87, where Sunil Gavaskar got his 10,000th test runs. The pitch of Motera Stadium used was helpful for bowlers. Three of the first four tests produced results. But later the wicket became slower and low, aiding neither the bowlers nor the stroke players batsmen. As a result most of the tests end with a draw now a days.
