Babul Supriyo is an illustrious Indian playback singer. Babul Supriyo was originally named Supriyo Baral. He was born in Kolkata. His grandfather, Banikantha N. C. Baral was a celebrated Bengali vocalist and composer. Rai Chand Baral also belongs to his family, who even today is considered as one of the most applauded composers, the Bengali music scene has ever brought about. Music, it is understood, was in his blood.
So Babul`s training in the field of music started from a very affectionate age. This brilliant talent holder has won a twine of awards in singing all through his constructive and instructive years in school, college and university. At the same time he also started performing in regular basis on radio and television programmes. After completing his educational degrees, Babul got a lucrative job at the Standard Chartered bank. But his passion and ambition towards music drove him to give up the job.
In 1992, Babul Supriyo moved to Mumbai, the tinsel town of dreams. At the beginning of his career in Bollywood, he had to undergo rigorous struggle. However he achieved the opportunity to sing for T-Series, the cover versions of popular Kishore Kumar songs. In due course, he managed to fetch a stage break under celebrated music composer duo Kalyanji -Anandji in their foreign concert tour along with legendary Amitabh Bachchan and others. This tour garnered him recognition within Bollywood. He got his first solo break in 1994, with Zindagi Chaar Din Ki for Rishi Kapoor in `Prem Yog` under the music direction of music composer Bappi Lahiri.

Through this album he tried to give `just good music, mostly slow, but occasionally fast`. The music of the album has been composed by a comparatively new duo- Sami-Maroof, and the lyrics have been scripted by Faaiz Anwar. His efforts paid off- he won the MTV Immies Award in 2003 for his album, "Sochta Hun....".
