Ruskin Bond was born in Kasauli in the year 1934 in the then Punjab Province. Born to a first generation British migrant, Bond spent most of his childhood in amidst Himalayas. His childhood was spent at different places that included Jamnagar, Dehradun and Shimla. He went to England for his primary studies. Although Bond was studying in England, his mind was in India. He had forged an intimate relationship with the Himalayas and longed for it. He liked the vastness of mountains very much and that shows in all his write-ups. He wrote his first novel named `Room On The Roof` when he was all of 17 years.

 Ruskin Bond The book was primarily based in and around Himalayas and was successful in capturing its beauty and vastness in a successful way. the serenity of Himalayas has come up again and again in his writings. He writes in a unique way that enables the readers to get the feel of the place. Though out his literary career he got lots of critical acclamation as well as a huge fans list. He is very famous among the children also. Presently he spends his days with his adopted family at a place near to Dehradun. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award for English writing in India for `Our Trees Still grows in Dehra` in 1992. He has also been conferred with Padma Shri.

Synopsis:
Many a times Ruskin Bond`s stories are set in the beautiful hill country of Garhwal where he has made his home for the last twenty-five years. Some of his stories present people who, consciously or otherwise, need each other. All the stories are rewarding for their compassionate portrayal of love, loss, accomplishment, pain and struggle. This collection of stories is not any difference. This can be called as a remarkable work of Ruskin Bond. In this collection of stories the author depicts the simple yet deep sketches of these people are the hallmark of each of these short stories. The characters of this story depict pain, affecting moments, desire, greed, love, compassion, innocence, etc. All of these are so genuinely simple to draw at the love of our emotions. These stories are full of humanness. This story is a break to this materialistic world scenario.
