Temple of Mundeswari Devi, Pura, Kaimur

The river Suvara has a mound locally called `garh`, and is protected by the government. The garh covers five acres and is said to be the site of an ancient temple complex Temple of Mundeswari Devi, Stone sculptors of standing and sitting Buddha with other deities, pillars, pilasters, beams, lintels, doorjambs, amalakas etc. have been found here in large numbers and belong to an early medieval period. Temple of Mundeswari Devi, Pura, Kaimur was quite large, they used large sized bricks seen scattered around the mound and remains of brick structures. Mundeswari Temple belongs to the later Gupta period.
