Kotkapura is a historic city, which is located in the district of Faridkot of Punjab state of India.

Kotkapura is an example of city of historical significance, lying almost 50 km from Bathinda in the same state of Punjab. Kotkapura has its location in the district of Faridkot. In fact it is the biggest city here and has a big cotton market. This market of Kotkapura is regarded as the best one in the whole of Asian continent.

Kotkapura is the birthplace of a famous personality. Sardar Ujjal Singh, famous astrologer, who has gained worldwide fame, is rooted to this Kotkapura. It is because of him that this Kotkapura town also is popular in the whole world. His name also has been recognized and highly acclaimed by the international astrologers' guild.

Demographical scenario highlights significant facts about Kotkapura town. It was the time when the British seized control of the town and the then raja of Faridkot, Pahar Singh has been given the onus of controlling this Kotkapura city.

Whether a town has achieved development or not depends on its literacy condition. If the literacy rate of Kotkapura is high it establishes its growth and prosperity. From this report, the average literacy rate constitutes 61 %. It is higher than that of India, which constitutes 59.5 %. Naturally this led one to derive the conclusion that development took place in Kotkapura. Out of it , rate of male literacy constitutes 65 %. However, female literacy rate is low which constitutes 57 %.

Kotkapura is connected via roads and thus links it with other places of India as well. Instances can be cited. From Chandigarh one takes 5 hours and also 2 and ½ hours from Ludhiana to reach Kotkapura by availing bus service.

Kotkapura is a small town situated 11 km south of Faridkot, in Faridkot District, Punjab. It is a major industrial center and a flourishing grain and cotton market in the district. Kotkapura is located 46 km north of Bathinda.

Places like Gurdwara Patshahi Das and Gurdwara Godavarisar Patshahi attract a myriad of tourists from far off places.

Access points of Kotkapura are quite significant. In fact it has established link with other places of India by all possible ways like road, rails and also by airports. Amritsar International Airport and Kotkapura Railway Station lie in close proximity. In fact this railway station lies on the 'Bathinda-Ferozepur line of Northern Railways'. NH 15 runs through this city of Kotkapura.
