Sri Krishnadevaraya University is located at Anantapur in Andhra pradesh.It was established in the year 1981. Post Graduate center of Sri Venkateswara University was converted into Sri Krishnadevaraya University.The campus of the University acquires 500 acres of land and houses a University Science Instrumentation Centre, a Computer Centre, a Health Centre, a Gymnasium, an Outdoor Stadium, Auditorium etc. In the beginning years the University was unitary residential University. In 1987 it became an affiliating University.

The University was responsible to provide higher education in Anantapur and Kurnool district. In 1993 the Post Graduate center at Kurnool became the part of the University. There are 112 affiliated colleges to the University including 26 Colleges of Education, 7 women college, 2 Oriental Colleges, 2 Law Colleges and one Engineering College.The University has 28 departments which offer 38 post graduate courses in various disciplines. The University has well-equipped library, laboratories and E-Class Room to support quality education and extensive research. The university was awarded Five Star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for excellent performance in the field of higher education.
