Mangalore University is located at Konaje in Mangalore.It was established in the year 1980.The University was given the responsibility to provide higher education in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts of Karnataka.The University 105 has affiliated colleges and two two constituent colleges spread ovrt thsese districts.The campus namely Mangalagangothri occupies about 350 acres.

The campus contains 22 post graduate departments offering various courses in the field of Science , Law ,Commerce and Management, Engineering, and Education. The campus also houses a well equipped library, University Science Instrumentation Centre, Centre for Yakshagana Studies ,Microtron Centre, Computer centre, Staff Development College, , Student Centre Folklore Museum,Yoga center, Hoster for boys and girls ,Health Centre etc.

The University started undergraduate courses in Fashion Design, Garment Design, Human Resource Development, Hotel Management, Leather Design and post-graduate computrer in Computer Software and Yogic Sciences for the first time in India.To meet the demand of the present age the University has also introduced postgraduate programnmes in Business Management, Electronics, Computer Science ,Geo-Informatics and Microbiology The University received 4 Star by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
