Acharya Nagarjuna University is located at Nagarjuna Nagar in the Guntur City of Andhra Pradesh.The University is named after Acharya Nagarjuna who was the profounder of the Madhyamaka path of Mahayana Buddhism.
In 1967 the Guntur Campus of Andhra University was converted into Acharya Nagarjuna University and in 1976 the University attained the status of an affiliating university.There are 292 colleges affliated to the University. Apart from its main campus it has Krishna District and Prakasam District.
The University offers 44 courses in various discipline. The University has following departments Department of Physics, Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Technology ,Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics, Department of Botany, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Environmental Science, Department of Zoology, Department of Aquaculture ,Department of Statistics, Department of Sociology, Department of Geology, Department of Telugu & Oriental Languages, Department of Political Science & Public Administration ,Department of Rural development, Department of Women`s Studies, Department of Adult Education and Department of Social Work.
To meet the present demand Acharya Nagarjuna University offers a MBA degree in collaboration with Central Michigan University.The University regularly arranges several exchange progranmmes,seminars, workshop to promote research works and international education.
