Gharghoda is a town and the taluka headquarters in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. The district headquarters is at Raigarh that is about 32 km. north of Raigarh. It is located between 22.17° North latitude and 83.35° East longitude at an average literacy rate of 258 metres (846 feet) above mean sea level. Raipur Airport is the nearest airport. Raigarh Railway Station is the railhead.

According to the 2001 census report, Gharghoda had a small population of 8103 inhabitants. Males and females constitute an equal proportion of the population. In Gharghoda, 14% of the population is less than six years of age. Gharghoda has an average literacy rate of 65%, which is higher than the nationwide standard of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 76% and the female literacy rate is 54%.
