Suranjoy Singh

Suranjoy Singh is a young boxer from India born in the state of Manipur. He has won many national and international competitions.

Suranjoy Singh, Indian BoxerSuranjoy Mayengbam Singh is a young, potential boxer from India who was born on 2nd April in the year 1986. He is an amateur boxer from the Indian state of Manipur, India. Though Singh is tiny in height, but he is a livewire while he is inside the ring. He is well-known for his power and aggression. His aggressive style of play has helped him win a lot of match in the past. He is popular figure among his team mates who affectionately call him Little Tyson.

Career of Suranjoy Mayengbam Singh
While he was starting out his career in the initial years he won many awards, both for national and international bouts. Besides many gold medals at the State and National Level championships, he also won bronze medals at the Junior World Championship in the year 2004.

He, in the year 2009, made his country proud by winning gold at the Asian Boxing Championships, at Zhuhai, China, as he ended the 15 years wait for India. He was also the only Indian to have won gold for the event. India`s last gold medal in Asian Championships was in the year 1994 in Tehran. Singh also became the first Indian to win gold at the Inter-Continental President`s Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan in December 2009 in the 51 kg Flyweight Category. He was also declared as the best boxer of Senior Men Boxing Championships at the world level, and first Indian to achieve such a feat.

The year 2009 was indeed memorable for Suranjoy Singh as he won many tough competitions - finished top at European Grand Prix, the Asian Championships and the President`s Cup also in the flyweight category he claimed national title. In the 2010, he won gold medal at the Commonwealth Boxing Championships held in New Delhi. He won flyweight gold.
