Sources of Gupta coins
Most of the coins of the Gupta period have been found in Kalighat Mudra Bhanda and Bayana Mudra Bhanda.

Gupta period coinMost of the coins of the Gupta period have been found in Kalighat Mudra Bhanda and Bayana Mudra Bhanda. In 1873 about 200 coins were found at place named Kalighat. This Kalighat was situated about 20 miles away from Calcutta. These coins include the coins of Kumara Gupta II or III and Vishnu Gupta.

A large number of coins have been found in Bayana Mudra Bhanda. A hoard of Gupta coins was found at a place called Nagai Chhaila in Bayana district of Bharatpur state. These include 10 coins of Chandra Gupta I, 15 of Kach, 193 of Samudra Gupta, 961 of Chandra Gupta II, 623 of Kumar Gupta I and also one coin of Skanda Gupta.

Besides these two places, various coins have been found at different places.
