Smriti Mehra who is also known as "Simi" is one of the well known face in golf. She is hailing from Kolkata and she is the first woman from India to become the member of the U.S. based LPGA Tour in Golf Tournament.
Smriti Mehra was born on 21st May in the year 1972. She was born in Kolkata and attended University of Calcutta before turning professional in Golf Tournament in 1994.
Smriti Mehra won the second tier Futures Tour in the year 1996 to win promotion to the main LPGA Tour, which she played from the year 1997 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2004.
Smriti Mehra underwent shoulder surgery in the year 2005. After that she played on the Futures Tour in the year 2006 in the hope of regaining her place at the top level.
In October 2005, Smriti Mehra played LPGA Tour golfers Heather Daly-Donofrio, Hilary Lunke and Celeste Troche in the first Women`s Professional Skins Game in India to demonstrate top level women`s golf in her home country.
Later, Smriti Mehra plans to set up a junior coaching programme in India for boys and girls starting in Autumn 2006. She also hopes to organise the professional tournaments for women under the auspices of the PGA of India in 2007. In the year 1993, Smriti Mehra won Malaysian National Championship and in the year 1994, she also won the Indian National Match Play Championship and Indian National Stroke Play Championship. In the year 1996, Smriti Mehra won the Green Mountain Futures Golf Classic and in the year 2004, she won the Frye Classic, Hunters Oak Futures Golf Classics. In the year 2008, she represented in the Women`s World Cup of Golf from India. In the year 2014, Smriti Mehra won the Hero-CGL Women`s Professional Golf Championship amidst tough weather conditions. She is the one to clinch the third title of the season.
