Shri Sesali Teerth located in Rajasthan is a Jain pilgrimage centre. The teerth kshetra is situated in the Sesali village on the bank of the Mithadi River. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha, the twenty-third Jain Tirthankara.
History of Shri Sesali Teerth
As per the historical records Shri Sesali Teerth is a very ancient teerth. According to references in the year 1187 of the Vikram Samvat Era, Mandan Shanghvi had constructed a beautiful temple investing lakhs of rupees. He had also brought an idol Lord Parshvanath from the neighbouring village of Nadlai and installed it in the temple. This idol is said to belong to the times of King Samprati. The temple has been adorned with attractive pinnacles. It is said that the teerth kshetra was once a rich and prosperous city and was resided by many people. Since its construction the temple has been renovated and repaired several times. The last renovation was done accomplished on the fourteenth day of the bright half of the month of Ashadh in the year 2020 of the Vikram Samvat Era.
The idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers. Thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.
Temple of Shri Sesali Teerth
The temple of Shri Sesali Teerth houses the idol of Lord Parshvanatha. The temple has been beautifully decorated with sculptural work. The intricate craftsmanship depict about the skills of the craftsmen. The beauty of the temple is further enhanced by the rare specimens of ancient art and paintings. The idol of the Lord is 58 cm in height and is white in colour. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very beautiful. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. The idol of Sesali Parshvanath is also known as Dada Parshvanatha.
Many annual gatherings and functions are organized by the Temple of Sri Radbar Teerth. A fair is held here on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Bhadrapad and on the fifteenth day of the bright half of the month of Kartika. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from this there are Upashrays, an Ayambilshala and a Jnanabhandar. The teerth is situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings. The temple is enclosed by scenic beauty that mesmerizes and fascinates the pilgrims. The calm and tranquil environment and the surrounding greenery make it a suitable place for religious activities. The kshetra is well connected to road, rail and air. Taxi services and bus services are easily available here. The nearest railway station is located at Falna that is 7 kilometers away from the temple. The chief city of Sadadi is situated at a distance of 12 kms.
