Shiv Kapur, Indian Golf PlayerShiv Kapur is an international golf player hailing from Delhi. He was born on 12th February 1982. He was the son of a stockbroker. His family encouraged him to go to Harvard University, but he chose Purdue University, because he got an option to play golf. He had a keen interest in golf from his childhood.

Sports Career of Shiv Kapur
Shiv Kapur went to Purdue University and played the amateur circuit in the United States of America. Shiv Kapur had a successful amateur golf career. There he won the Indian and Malaysian Amateur Opens in 2000 and an individual gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games.

Shiv Kapur joined The Tour with an exceptional talent. There he won the 2000 Malaysian Amateur Open Championship, the 2002 Asian Games Individual Gold Medal and the 2002 Indian Amateur Open Championship. He also played in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2000 and 2002. After that he became the part of Bonallack Cup team and won in the year 2002 and 2004.

Shiv Kapur turned a professional golfer after 2004. After that, his success reached international golf arena. He made a huge impact on the 2005 Asian Tour, winning the Rookie of the Year title after claiming his first major victory at the Volvo Masters of Asia in Thailand, with a tournament record of 20-under-par 268.

Shiv Kapur also registered several other impressive finishes, including a sensational run of five top-10s over six tournaments to finish fourth on the Asian Tour order of Merit.

Shiv Kapur continued in golf and was promoted amongst top-class golf player, qualifying for his maiden major at the British Open in 2006 and enjoying three top 20 finishes on the European Tour. He earned the admiration of Fred Couples, who predicted a bright future for the Indian talent when they played together at the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth.

Shiv Kapur also made a substantial impact in his second season on the Asian Tour. There he won the season ending Volvo Masters of Asia and finishing the year fourth on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Shiv Kapur works with instructor Peter Murphy out of Dallas in Texas. Shiv Kapur joined the European Tour in 2007. There he had earned honour as an affiliate member in 2006 to merit a Tour card in World Golf arena.
