The Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 witnessed the participation of 27 teams which gathered from all the parts of India. The tournament has earned a lot of popularity for being the premium and most fruitful domestic cricket tournament in India and the organisers of the tournament, BCCI, divided the teams into five different zones for playing against each other. The zones were named as the Central Zone, East Zone, North Zone, South Zone and West Zone and the top two teams from each of the zones got promoted to the knockout level of the tournament for competing for the championship title. The teams that took part in the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 included the likes of Assam, Baroda, Bengal, Bihar, Bombay, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Railways, Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Services, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and the Vidarbha.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, Central Zone League Matches: The Central Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 comprised 5 teams, including the likes of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Railways, Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh. The BCCI selected the teams mainly from the central region of India and all the teams were the regular participants in the tournament. The teams played against each other in the zonal level league matches to become one of the top two teams in the zone. The teams also tried hard for getting into the knock out level of the tournament. The only teams which made it to the final were Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan from the Central Zone.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, East Zone League Matches: 5 teams played against each other in the East Zone League Matches, Ranji Trophy, 1993-94. Ranji Trophy is the premium domestic cricket tournament in India. The teams were mainly representing different states from the Eastern region of India and they were also the regular participants in the tournament. The teams included the likes of Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Tripura and Orissa and they competed with each other very hard for becoming one of the top two teams in the zone. Getting a chance to compete in the knock out level of the tournament was also another principal objective of the teams, however, only the teams like Bengal and Orissa could eventually do so from the zone. The Bengal and Orissa teams earned total of 24 and 12 points, respectively from the zonal level league matches. The two teams also competed with the top teams of the other zones in the knock out level for winning the championship title.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, North Zone League Matches: The North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 comprised 6 teams, all coming from the Northern region of India. The tournament is being considered as the most popular and fruitful domestic cricket tournaments in India and all the North Zone teams in the tournament were the regular participants. The teams included the likes of Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Services and they tried their best to claim the top spot in the zone. The teams also gave their best efforts for securing a berth in the knock out level of the tournament, however, only the teams like Punjab and Haryana eventually became successful to do so from the zone. The Punjab and Haryana teams earned total of 26 and 20 points at the end of the zonal level league matches and they were also promoted to the knock out level of the tournament.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, South Zone League Matches: The South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 saw the participation of 6 teams, all the regular participants of the tournament. The Ranji Trophy is well recognised as the premium domestic cricket tournament in India and the teams that participated in the tournament under the South Zone were mainly representing different South Indian states. The teams included the likes of Andhra, Hyderabad, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Tamil Nadu and they played against each other for claiming the top spots in the zone. The teams also tried their best for securing a berth in the knock out level of the tournament, however, only the teams of Hyderabad and Karnataka could do so from the zone. The Hyderabad and Karnataka teams earned total of 21 and 19 points, respectively from the zonal level league matches for becoming the toppers in the zone.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, West Zone League Matches: The teams that played against each other under the West Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 included the likes of Baroda, Bombay, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Saurashtra. The tournament is well famous for being the most successful domestic cricket tournament in India and all the West Zone teams were the regular participants in the tournament. Most of the teams were representing different states from the Western region of India and they gave their best efforts for becoming one of the top two teams in the zone. The teams also tried hard for getting a promotion to the knock out level of the tournament and the zone saw only the teams like Bombay and Baroda eventually becoming successful to do so. The Bombay and Baroda teams earned total of 24 and 10 points, respectively at the end of the zonal level league matches for claiming the top spots in the zone.

Ranji Trophy, 1993-94, Knock out Matches: The knock out level of the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 was comprised of 14 teams that were selected from all the fives zones of the tournament. The teams included the top two teams from each of the zones and also the four teams that earned the highest points among all the other teams. The teams included the likes of Karnataka, Assam, Haryana, Bombay, Rajasthan, Hyderabad, Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bengal, Delhi, Baroda and Tamil Nadu. The teams played against each other in the knock out matches of the Ranji Trophy, 1993-94 and they took part in the Pre-Quarter-Finals, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final match of the tournament. Though all the teams tried their best, the Bombay team eventually became successful to win the championship title, after a few years` gap.
