The teams that participated under the East Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1991-92 included the likes of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Assam and Tripura. Ranji Trophy is quite famous for being the premium domestic cricket tournament in India and all the five teams of the East Zone were the regular participants in the tournament. The second match of the zone was played between the teams of Bengal and Assam and the two teams played the match at Calcutta from 21-24 November, 1991. The Orissa and Assam teams met each other in the fourth East Zone league match in the Ranji Trophy, 1991-92 and the match was held at Cuttack from 29 November-02 December, 1991. The Orissa team earned 17 points from the match by clinching a huge victory of 10 wickets and the Assam team also earned 3 points from the match. The Assam team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Bihar team at Ranchi from 05-08 December, 1991. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Bihar and Assam teams 13 and 12 points, respectively for the match. Then, the Bengal team played against the Tripura team in the next match of the zone and the match took place at Calcutta from 05-08 December, 1991. The winner of the match was the Bengal team with a very good margin of an innings and 222 runs and the team also earned 25 points from the match. The Tripura team earned 4 points from the match, as well.
The two most powerful teams of the East Zone, Bengal and Bihar played against each other in the seventh of the East Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1991-92 and they played the match at Jamshedpur from 12-15 December, 1991. The Bihar and Bengal teams earned 12 and 8 points from the match, as it remained drawn during the specified period of time. The Orissa and Tripura teams then played against each other in the next match of the zone and the match was held at Cuttack from 12-15 December, 1991. The Orissa team clinched a victory of an innings and 89 runs and earned 23 points from the match and the Tripura team also earned 4 points form the match. The match between the teams of Bengal and Orissa was the next match of the zone and the two teams played the match at Baripada from 19-22 December, 1991. The drawn match saw the Bengal team earning 19 points and Orissa earning 7 points from it. The last of the East Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1991-92 was played between the teams of Assam and Tripura and the match was held at Guwahati from 19-22 December, 1991. The match saw the Assam team winning by a huge margin of an innings and 472 runs for earning 24 points and the Tripura team also earned 2 points from the match.
