All the 5 regular teams that had been playing in the tournament for the previous several editions took part under the West Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76, as well. The teams of Baroda and Gujarat met with each other in the seventh of the West Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76. The match that was held at Baroda from 23-25 November, 1975 saw the Baroda team winning by a margin of 43 runs and also earning 8 valuable points from it. The next match of the West Zone was played between the teams of Bombay and Saurashtra at Bombay from 06-08 December, 1975. The Bombay team played wonderfully in the match and clinched a huge victory of an innings and 14 runs for earning 8 points from the match. The Saurashtra team then played against the Maharashtra team in the next match at Pune from 13-15 December, 1975 and the match remained drawn during the stipulated duration.
