The knock out level of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 saw the top two teams from all the zones playing and competing against each other for the coveted championship title. The teams included the likes of Bombay, Bengal, Bihar, Hyderabad, Railways, Rajasthan, Delhi, Karnataka, Haryana and Maharashtra and they played against each other in the Pre-Quarter-Finals, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final of the tournament. Although all of the teams left no stones unturned in their endeavour of becoming the champion of the tournament, it was the Bombay team once again that became successful to win the trophy.
The teams of Hyderabad and Railways appeared against each other in the first Pre-Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76. The match was held at Hyderabad from 09-11 January, 1976 and The Hyderabad team won the match by 71 runs for advancing towards the Quarter-Final stage of the tournament. The second Pre-Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 was held between the teams of Rajasthan and Maharashtra at Jaipur from 09-11 January, 1976. Though the match remained drawn during the stipulated duration, the match officials allowed the Maharashtra team to get into the Quarter-Final stage of the tournament.
The Quarter-Final stage of the tournament started with the clash between the teams of Bihar and Delhi, as the teams played against each other in the first Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76. The match was played at Delhi from 08-11 January, 1976 and it saw the Bihar team winning by a huge margin of 157 runs for entering into the Semi-Final stage of the tournament. The second Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 was played between the teams of Bengal and Haryana at Calcutta from 08-09 January, 1976. The Bengal team played wonderfully in the match and won it by a huge margin of an innings and 4 runs for entering into the Semi-Finals. The clash between the teams of Bombay and Hyderabad happened in the third Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 and the match took place at Bombay from 16-18 January, 1976. Playing wonderfully in the match, the Bombay team clinched a victory of 70 runs over the Hyderabad team and advanced to the Semi-Final stage of the tournament. The last and fourth Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 involved the teams of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The teams played the match at Bangalore from 17-20 January, 1976 and the drawn match saw the Karnataka team advancing towards the Semi-Final stage.
There was a huge clash between the teams of Karnataka and Bihar in the first Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 and the match was held at Jamshedpur from 25-28 January, 1976. The Bihar team played extremely well in the match and clinched a huge victory of 10 wickets for reaching the Final of the tournament, after a long period. The teams of Bengal and Bombay appeared against each other in the second Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76. The match was held at Calcutta from 30 January-02 February, 1976 and the match officials allowed the Bombay team to enter into the Final of the tournament. Thus, the Bihar and Bombay teams thus clashed with each other in the Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 and the match was held at Jamshedpur from 15-19 February, 1976. The Bombay team dominated the Bihar team throughout the Final match and clinched a huge victory of 10 wickets for winning the championship title, once again.
