A number of 6 teams played against each other under the North Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and all the regular teams were coming from the Northern region of India. The teams included the likes of Delhi, Services, Railways, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and Punjab and they tried their best to get a chance in the knock out level of the tournament. The teams also tried hard for becoming one of the top two teams in the zone, however, the teams like Delhi and Haryana eventually became the toppers in the North Zone.

The match between the teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab was the first of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and the match was played at Srinagar from 11-13 September, 1974. The Punjab team did well to win the match by a margin of 7 wickets and got a good start in the tournament by earning 8 valuable points from the match. The second match of the zone was played between the teams of Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir at Srinagar from 15-16 September, 1974. The match saw the Haryana team winning by a god margin of an innings and 121 runs and also earning 8 valuable points from it. The Railways team then played against the Jammu & Kashmir team in the third match of the North Zone and the match took place at Delhi from 27-29 October, 1974. The Railways team clinched a victory of an innings and 98 runs for earning the entire 9 points from the match.

In the fourth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75, there was a clash between the teams like Jammu & Kashmir and Services and the match was held at Delhi from 01-02 November, 1974. The match was won by the Services team with a margin of 7 wickets and the team earned 8 points from it, as well. The Delhi team then clashed with the Jammu & Kashmir team in the next match of the zone at Delhi from 05-07 November, 1974. The winner of the match was the Delhi team with a margin of an innings and 35 runs and the team also earned 8 points from the match. The next match of the North Zone involved the teams like Railways and Services and the match took place at Delhi from 05-07 November, 1974. The match was won by the Railways team with a very good margin of an innings and 71 runs for earning 8 points from it.

The teams of Punjab and Railways clashed with each other in the seventh of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and the match took place at Patiala from 09-11 November, 1974. The Railways team continued its wonderful form in this match also and clinched a victory of 96 runs for earning 8 points from it. The Punjab team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Delhi team at Delhi from 14-16 November, 1974. The match saw the Delhi team winning by a good margin of 122 runs and also earning 8 valuable points. The clash between the teams of Railways and Haryana happened in the next match of the zone and the match was held at Chandigarh from 14-16 November, 1974. The Haryana team played well in the match and won it by a margin of 5 wickets to earn 8 points from it.

The next match of the North Zone saw a clash between the teams of Service and Punjab at Delhi from 18-20 November, 1974. The match was drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Services and Punjab teams 5 and 3 points, respectively for the match. The Services team then played against the Haryana team in the next match of the zone and the match was played at Delhi from 25-27 November, 1974. The drawn match saw the Haryana team earning 5 points and Services earning 3 points from it. The 12th of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 involved the teams of Haryana and Delhi and the two teams played the match at Chandigarh from 30 November-02 December, 1974. The Delhi team played wonderfully in the match for getting a win of an innings and 21 runs and also for earning 8 points from it.

The Delhi team then played against the Services team in the next match of the North Zone and the match was held at Delhi from 18-20 December, 1974. The Delhi team played very well in this match and clinched a victory of an innings and 241 runs for earning 8 valuable points from it. The Delhi team appeared in the 14th of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 also and this time, it played against the Railways team at Delhi from 22-24 December, 1974. The Delhi team continued it wonderful form in this match also and it defeated the Railways team with a huge margin of 10 wickets and earning 8 points from the match. The last of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 saw a clash between the teams of Punjab and Haryana at Muktasar from 27-29 December 1974. The Haryana team dominated the Punjab team throughout the match and earned 8 points from the match, by winning it with a huge margin of 10 wickets.
