The West Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1970-71 was comprised of a number of 5 teams, all the regular ones from the Western region of India. The Baroda and Maharashtra teams took part in the next match of the West Zone and the match was held at Baroda from 05-07 December, 1970. The drawn match saw the Maharashtra and Baroda teams earning 6 and 3 points, respectively from it. The Maharashtra team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Saurashtra team at Rajkot from 12-14 December, 1970. The Maharashtra team played wonderfully in the match and got a huge victory of an innings and 3 runs for earning 8 valuable points from it. The last of the West Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1970-71 saw a battle between the teams of Gujarat and Baroda at Ahmedabad from 12-14 December, 1970. There was no winner in the match and the match officials awarded both the Gujarat and Baroda teams 4 points each for the drawn match.
