After the completion of the league matches of the five zones, the teams like Delhi, Bengal, Bombay, Mysore and Rajasthan became successful to enter into the knock out level of the Ranji Trophy, 1963-64. They played the Quarter-Final, Semi-Finals and the Final match of the tournament against each other, however, the ultimate result was just the same as the previous few years. The Bombay team won the title for the sixth time.
The Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1963-64 was played between the teams of Delhi and Bengal at Delhi from 06-08 March, 1964. Though, the match was drawn during its specified duration, the match officials allowed the Delhi team to compete in the Semi-Final of the tournament. The first Semi-Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1963-64 saw a battle between the teams of Mysore and Bombay at Bangalore from 06-09 March, 1964. The Bombay team played wonderfully in the match and won it comprehensively by 7 wickets to advance into the Final.
In the second Semi-Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1963-64, the teams of Rajasthan and Delhi clashed with each other at Jaipur from 13-16 March, 1964. Playing well in the match, the Rajasthan team clinched a victory of 5 wickets and set up a Final clash with the Bombay team. Thus, the Bombay and Rajasthan teams locked their horns together in the Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1963-64 and the match was held at Bombay from 24-26 March, 1964. The Bombay team once again dominated its opponents in the Final and won the match and championship quite convincingly with a margin of 9 wickets.
