Ranji Trophy

This was the fifth consecutive Ranji win for the Bombay team.

The knock out matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1962-63 was held once all the zonal matches were completed and all the top two teams from the zones were finalised. The matches held during the months of February and March in the year of 1963 and the top teams of the stage included the likes of Bengal, Hyderabad, Bombay, Delhi and Rajasthan. They competed with each other in the Quarter-Final, Semi-Finals and the Final of the tournament.

The first Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1962-63 saw a clash between the teams of Delhi and Rajasthan and the match was held at Delhi from 15-18 February, 1963. The Rajasthan team played wonderfully in the match and won it by 5 wickets for securing a birth in the Final of the tournament. The teams of Bengal and Hyderabad clashed with each other in the Quarter-Final of the tournament. The match was held at Calcutta from 22-25 February, 1963 and it saw the Bengal team winning comprehensively with a good margin of 184 runs and entering into the Semi-Final of the tournament.

In the second Semi-Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1962-63 was held between the teams of Bombay and Bengal at Calcutta from 02-05 March, 1963. The Bombay team dominated the Bengal team throughout the match and eventually clinched a huge victory of an innings and 31 runs for setting up a clash with the Rajasthan team in the Final of the tournament. The Final match of the tournament was held at Jaipur from 09-13 March, 1963, between the teams of Bombay and Rajasthan. Though, the Rajasthan team tried hard, it failed to restrain the Bombay team from winning its fifth consecutive Ranji Trophy titles and the Bombay team eventually won the match by an innings and 19 runs.
