Ranji Trophy

There were four teams from Northern India that comprised the North Zone.

In the North Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58, there were a number of 4 teams included by the organisers. The teams were the Services, Delhi, Patiala and Eastern Punjab and all the teams were mainly coming from the Northern part of India.

The teams of Eastern Punjab and Services started the procedures for the North Zone, when they met each other for the first match at Jullundur from 20-22 December, 1957. The match saw the Services team winning by an innings and 70 runs, to earn the total 9 points from the match. The second match of the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58 was held at Patiala from 20-22 December, 1957, between the teams of Patiala and Delhi. The Delhi team earned the entire 9 points from the match by winning it by a huge margin of an innings and 135 runs. In the next match of the North Zone, the teams of Patiala and Services clashed with each other at Patiala from 24-26 December, 1957 and the match was won by the Services team. The Services won the match by a huge margin of 10 wickets and earned the total 9 points from it.

In the fourth league match of the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1957-58, the teams like Eastern Punjab and Delhi played against each other at Jullundur from 24-26 December, 1957. The match saw the Delhi team winning by 8 wickets to earn the entire 9 points from the match, once again. Then, the Services and Delhi team locked their horns together at Delhi from 29-31 December, 1957. As the match was drawn, the officials awarded 6 points to Services and the rest of the 3 points to the Delhi team. The last league match of the North Zone saw a clash between the teams of Eastern Punjab and Patiala at Jullundur from 29-31 December, 1957. The Patiala team won the match by a huge margin of an innings and 35 runs and earned 9 points from the match.
