National Law institute has been recognized by the Bar Council of India. The main objective of the University is to provide skilled persons needed for the profession. The University offers five year B.A., LL.B. course. The Chief Justice of India serves as the patron of the university. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and the Hon. Chief Justice of India. It works closely with the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and the National Judicial Academy.

The Moot Court Association - It encourages mooting activity on campus.
Jus Cultura is the Literary, Debating and Quizzing Society of NLIU that plays a major role in the holistic development approach of the University.
Alternate Dispute Resolution Cell - This cell was instituted in the month of March 2007. Since its inception the cell has done admirable work under the guidance of the ADR Cell`s Teacher-in-charge and the student members.
Athena is the cultural committee that organizes various cultural events within the University, including the annual intra-University events Palchin and Rang Manch.
Centre for Business and Commercial Laws - This came into being in the year 2008 and was instituted in order to facilitate corporate awareness and providing avenues for exploring the world of corporate and commercial laws.
