Mangal Singh Champia

Mangal Singh Champia is an Indian athlete who came into limelight of Indian archery after wining the team competition at 2006 Asian Games.

Mangal Singh Champia, Indian AthleteMangal Singh Champia is an Indian archer born on 9th November 1983 at Jamshedpur. He became the well known face in Indian archery world after wining the bronze medal in the team competition at the 2006 Asian Games.

Mangal Singh Champia was conferred with the Arjuna award by President of India for the year 2009. Champia is sponsored by Mittal Champions Trust.

Mangal Singh Champia competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There he finished his ranking round with a total of 678 points, just one point behind Juan Rene Serrano and equal with Viktor Ruban and scoring more bull`s eyes than Serrano.

This gave him the second seed for the final competition bracket in 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in which he faced Hojjatollah Vaezi in the first round, beating the Iranian in 112-98.

In the second round of 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Mangal Singh Champia faced 31st seed Bair Badenov, but was unable to beat the Russian who won with 109-108. Badenov and went on to win the bronze medal.
