Management of Indian AthleticsAthletics is not a single game or sports; it is in fact an amalgamation of a number of track and field events. The game of Athletics started its journey in India during the Vedic period and it has been popular in the country, since then. Though it is quite old in India, Athletics was not played in an organised manner till Independence. The Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI) came into existence in the year 1946 and started working for the management of Indian Athletics. After that, a large number of other Athletic associations started their journey and helped AAFI in the management of Indian Athletics.

Apart from the Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI), there is another national body that is working for the management of Indian Athletics and it is the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). The AFI is the governing body for Athletics in India and it is working in collaboration with the other Athletics associations for the well being of Indian Athletics. As Athletics is one of the oldest games in India, there is an Athletic association in each and every state of India. There are also several Athletics clubs and academies that are working for the better management of Indian Athletics.

The Indian Athletics federations mainly organise Athletic meets and events in order to give the Indian Athletes a chance to improve their performances. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is in charge of organising the national level Athletics meets in India, while the State Athletics associations organise the state level meets. The main objective of the state Athletics associations is to bring up new talents in various track and field events in India. Apart from organising various meets, the Indian Athletic federations also conduct several training programmes for the improvement of Indian Athletes` skills.

The Indian Athletics associations have been working relentlessly for the management of Indian Athletics, since their inception. They are also playing an important role in bringing out new talents who will bring glory for India in the future. The entire management of Indian Athletics is in the hand of these Athletics associations and they are trying their best to improve the scenario of Indian Athletics.
