Mahamaya Dham, also known as Mahamaya Temple of Bogribari is located in Lower Assam. The temple, situated at a distance of almost 10 km on the west from Bilasipara town and 30 km on the east side from Dhubri town is held in great reverence by the pilgrims visiting the temple from different corners of the country.

Worshipped as one of the Shakti Pithas, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Mahamaya. It is believed that in the past goddess Mahamaya was revered by the natives of Parvatjowar such as Koches, Kacharies and Naths. Goddess Mahamaya is also venerated as the presiding deity by the zamindar of Parvatjowar. With the passage of time the goddess gained acceptance and recognition among her devotes and presently is highly idolized and bestowed with love and devotion by the pilgrims of Lower Assam.

Mahamaya Dham pursues animal sacrifice within the temple complex, a custom almost 400 years old. The age long tradition gains momentum especially during the Durga Puja with the pilgrim`s witnessing the mass slaughter of animals and birds like, goats, buffaloes, pigeons and ducks.

Mahamaya Snaanghat Temple, located in the vicinity of Mahamaya Dham is also thronged by pilgrims and worshipped with great reverence. The local people residing nearby suppose that goddess Mahamaya took bath in this region that was later developed into a shrine. It was thus, named as Mahamaya Snaanghat. A Shakti Yagya is organised every year during the month of January by the temple priests.
