Kuchanur is a panchayat town located in Theni district in the Tamil Nadu state of India. The town is home to different communities like Thevar, Pillai and Nayakar. The official language of the town is Tamil. A temple of Saturn, which is constructed in Kuchanur, is a special attraction of tourists who throng here in large numbers.

According to the 2001 India census, the town had a population of 6118 of which the males were 49% and females 51%. In the town, 11% of the population was under 6 years of age. On the basis of the report of same year, the town had an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy was 69% and female literacy was 49%.
Economy of Kuchanur
Agriculture is one of the main occupations of the people. Crops like rice, millets and cereals, pulses, sugarcane, groundnut, gingerly and cotton are mainly grown here.
Temples of Kuchanur
The town is home to several temples. There is a temple of Saturn which is visited by a number of people. The name of the town is derived from Kubjan, one of Shani`s names (Kubjanoor). There is another temple for guru which faces north direction so this temple is known as Vadaguru temple. There is a hanuman temple in which there is an idol of Ganesh who has got five heads. The other temples located here are Periayandavar Kovil, Krishnan kovil, Muthalamman Temple, Karupasamy Temple and Periyandavar Temple.
