Keralacharya
Keralacharya was among the known astronomers who belonged to the Tirchur district of Kerala and invested his attention on studying astronomy, Ayurveda as well as various Tantras.

Keralacharya was born in Kashyapagotra resided in Tirchur district located in central part of Kerala. Popularly known as the minister in King Rama Verma`s court who ruled in Kerala from 1108- 32, this scholar is known for his contribution in the field of Ayurveda, Jyotisa and Tantra. His work of Jyotisa is included in Kerala-sathhita, Kerala-nadigrantha, Keraliyaprasna-marga and Keralaprasnasara.

Keralacharya is among those scholars who belonged to the legendary Kerela School of astronomy and mathematics. Kerala School of Astronomers and Mathematics mainly oriented their studies towards the infinite Series and Calculus, Geometry, Arithmetic and Algebra, Astronomy, Linguistics which has been contributed by number of astronomers and mathematicians. This school attracted a number of scholars and astronomers which included the ancient astronomer like Varahamihira and Brahmagupta of ancient Hindu astronomy and Aryabhata I, Bhaskara I and Bhaskara II of Siddhanta Jyotisa. This gave encouragement to number of scholars who came up later on and continued their studies on the same lines. Among these was Keralacharya who too concentrated on the Ayurveda, Jyotisa and Tantras which were specialised in Kerela School of astronomy.

Thus Keralacharya along with other astronomers of South India made some vital contribution in the field of astronomy as well as mathematics. His works has been mainly considered as the non - Keralite treatises based on Keralite teachings attributed to Keralacharya.
