The college is located at Bahera, about 25 kms to the east of Darbhanga and has been working on achieving some certain aims and objectives. The (SMIDCH), Darbhanga is entirely dedicated to promote education, research & information dissemination in the state. The college is established for the benefit of poor, weaker section and downtrodden minorities and also for improvement in environment conditions. Advancement of other objects of Muslim utility for promoting international Welfare, in which India is interested, is also another objective of the college.

The Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga was established in 1989-1990 by the Education Society, "Rauf Muslim Jamia" (RMJ), as a Muslim Minority College. The college was established under article 29 & 30(1) of Indian Constitution. It was mainly aimed at meeting the needs of the minorities of entire northern region of the country, where the total population of the Minority (Muslim) is about to six million.

The Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga has been working with the chief goal of rendering Dental services to the Muslim masses of Bihar. It is also working to provide training to the Muslim students about the modern Dental Technologies. The college has three different buildings within its premises that are housing the academy side and Administration side, the Medical and Dental door and also different Dental Clinical Depts. The buildings also house one 100-beded hospital, Girls Hostel and also the Boys hostel.

A panel of highly qualified and experienced teachers are imparting knowledge to the students in all the departments, in Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga. The departments are well equipped with all necessary and modern teaching aids according to the norms of Dental Council of India (DCI). Apart from the regular faculty members, a few guest faculties from outside also visit the college and deliver lectures on concerned subjects from time to time. The college is sanctioned by the DCI to admit 60 students in its B.D.S. course every year.

The Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga follows some certain rules and regulations for admitting students. The students have to pass in Intermediate of Science /10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized university/Board in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) with minimum 50% of marks for general and O.B.C., and 40% marks for S.C. and S.T. categories, for getting admitted in first year of B.D.S. The students have to be aged minimum 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.

However, there is an exemption to the MBBS degree holders. The candidates, who have obtained the degree of MBBS or an equivalent qualification and are desirous of obtaining the B.D.S degree in addition, can get admitted in Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga. The students shall undergo two years of B.D.S. condensed courses as per the norms of L. N. Mithila University. The college offers its courses especially for the Muslim minority students; however, students from all the other minorities can also get admissions in the college. The students are admitted on the basis of Entrance written test for all the seats reserved for Muslim Minority and General Candidates. The Dr. S. M. Naqui Inam Dental College & Hospital (SMIDCH), Darbhanga also provides facilities for internship in the modern and well equipped (with latest dental instruments, chairs & units) Dental Hospital of the college.
