Chintpurni fair is among one of the most celebrated fairs of the Himachal Pradesh state of India. The fair is locally known as Mata Da Mela. The fair is held in the village of Chintpurni which lies 4 kms to the west of Bhanwain, on the Hoshiarpur-Kangra road. It is a well known fair and is attended by both local and distant pilgrims.
Celebration of Chintpurni Fair
The fair is organized near the temple of the Goddess Chintpurni. The temple, dedicated to Mata Chintpurni Devi, is located in District Una of Himachal Pradesh. The site is approached by a metalled road from Una, Hoshiarpur and Kangra which are situated at a distance of 56, 48 and 64 kms away respectively. Mata Chintpurni Devi is also known as Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi. Devotees have been visiting this Shaktipeeth for centuries to pray at the lotus feet of Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi. It is said that the Mother Goddess appeared here in astral form in the ancient times.
The fair is held thrice a year in the months of Chet (March-April), Sawan (July-August) and Asoj (September-October). The fair lasts for 9 days during the Navratras and for 10 days in Sawan. The attendance at the fair is highest on the 8th day. The fair is celebrated throughout the day and all through the night as well. During this time, the devotees gather together in the temple and sing devotional songs in praise of the Mother Goddess. The devotees also take a holy dip in the tank which is located 2 kms down the hill. This is also an important part of the observances. Many devotees also offer Mundan or hair tonsuring for their children at the fair. On their return home, many of the pilgrims buy parched rice, candy drops and incense to distribute among friends and relatives.

It can be well accessed via airway, railway and roadway. Chandigarh is the closest airport to reach this temple. The nearest railhead is Una railway station. Both the airport and railway station have good transport facilities. The closest bus stop is Bharwain bus station which is around 7 kms away from the temple.
