Bal Dani was an Indian cricketer, who was formally known as Hemachandra Tukaram `Bal` Dani, was born on 24th May 1933 in Dudhani (Maharashtra). He was an Indian Test Cricketer who started his cricket career on behalf of Maharashtra Cricket Team.
Bal Dani was an Indian cricketer, who was formally known as Hemachandra Tukaram "Bal" Dani did his schooling at Rungta High School, Nasik. The contemporary cricketer of that time Bapu Nadkarni also attended the same school. After that he took his graduation degree.
The first class cricket career of Hemachandra Tukaram "Bal" Dani started with Maharashtra Cricket Team. But he moved to national services after joining the Indian Air Force in 1956. After that, he rose to become an Air Commodore and retired in 1987.
Bal Dani was predominantly a right-handed batsman. He could also bowl as a medium pace bowler and later it turned to off and leg breaks. His only Test match was against Pakistan in 1952 to 1953. India won the game losing only for wickets; Bal Dani did not get a chance to bat and took a single wicket. When he was 19 years, he got his opening partner, Lala Amarnath, who was veteran player in Indian cricket at that time. He toured Pakistan in 1954 to 1955 without appearing in a Test match.
He hit 15 centuries and took 200 wickets in his career. He captained Services for several years. He played most of his good cricket well after the end of Test career.

After the retirement from Indian cricket scenario, Bal Dani became the national selector from 1968 to 1975. He was the manager, selector and coach of Maharashtra
Ranji Trophy side between 1989 and 1997. Bal Dani was involved with the charity organisation Sneha Seva in Pune of Maharashtra.
He died on December 19 in the year 1999 at Nasik (Maharashtra), at the age of 66 years.
