Athletics Federation of India is an Indian non governmental organisation conducting the competition to play in competitions like Olympics and Common wealth Games.

Athletics Federation of IndiaAthletics Federation of India (AFI) is the non governmental and non profitable autonomous body in athletics in India giving opportunities to the Indians to play in the international and national level games.

Objective of Athletics Federation of India (AFI)
International Olympic Committee is responsible for conducting Competitions in the country.

Earlier name of Athletics Federation of India (AFI)
International Olympic Committee was earlier called as Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI). It is associated with both Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Body of Athletics Federation of India (AFI)
G.D. Sondhi and Maharaja Yadvindra Singh is now the governing body of International Olympic Committee. Professor G.D. Sondhi was its first President for a short while, resigning on 13th April 1950.

Competitions by Athletics Federation of India (AFI)
The competitions are conducted by Athletics Federation of India (AFI), are divided in three categories "I", "II" & "III". The Category I is solely conducted by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) where as Category II includes all those Competitions, for which Athletics Federation of India (AFI) grant permission to any other party, affiliated Units, Clubs and Organisations. Category III consists of competitions is conducted by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) but not on regular basis.
