Assam Cricket Association
Assam Cricket Association is a cricket administrative body that takes care of the cricketing activities in the state of Assam.
Assam Cricket Association is the administrative body of the cricket related activities in the state of Assam and the Assam cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI. The Assam cricket association with the help of BCCI conducts cricket matches from basic levels to international levels.
The Assam Cricket Association looks to promote, support and develop cricket by conducting various League Tournaments, Tournaments for the age group Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories besides organizing and conducting National Tournaments.
The Assam cricket team belongs to the plate group in the Ranji Trophy in Assam. Up until the 2002-03 seasons, when the zonal system was abandoned, it used to form a part of Eastern Zone. It has not seen much success in the Ranji Trophy circuit but won their plate group in 2006/07 before losing the semi-final to Orissa, despite having not won a first-class match in the previous two seasons. In 2009-10 seasons Assam entered into elite group of the Ranji Trophy. In 2009-10 Ranji Trophy season Assam topped the plate group and subsequently progressed to the Super League. However, in the 2010-11 seasons, it ended at the bottom of its group in the Super League and face relegation to Plate League for the next season.
