Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association is one of the prime State Associations of Table Tennis Federation of India. It was registered and established in the year 1964. The association has raised the status of Tennis and the dynamic progress of it had produced National and International players. Among the players who were the glorious personalities of Indian Tennis of India are Mir Kasim Ali who was the National Champion and the Arjuna awardee. Mir Kasem Ali was the finalist in common wealth Table Tennis championship prior to 1970s.
The Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association has taken the initiative to usher many National and International events in Andhra Pradesh, even inviting other countries as Pakistan, Srilanka, Nepal and Bhutan. Andhra Pradesh has been said to be the initiator for PENT ANGULAR Championship that involves players from five countries. Apart from this, Andhra Pradesh organised Golden Jubilee Senior Nationals and Junior Nationals, Common Wealth TT Champion Ship in 1994, IX Asian Junior Table Tennis Champion Ship in 2002 and Four National ranking Table Tennis Champion Ships at Vijayawada in the past ten years and the final being from 4th to 8th October 2006. The former President of The Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association was Shri Sudeep Lakhtakia, IPS. The entire association is grateful to Shri Lakhtakia as he was the inspiration and motivator to the players in particular and for his works that are worthy of praise and had helped the association to move forward.
