Created by splitting the Chandel district, the Tengnoupal district is said to be one of the new districts of Manipur in north east India. With the district headquarters located at Tengnoupal, the newly reinstated Tengnoupal district is one of the 16 full- fledged districts of the state. The district is sub divided into 3 portions- Tengnoupal, Moreh and Machi.
Demography of Tengnoupal District
As per the Census India reports of 2011, Tengnoupal district is known to be the 5th least populous district of the state of Manipur. The total population of Tengnoupal district was 59,000 out of which 30,000 were male and 29,000 were female. The population of children between the ages of 0 to 6 years was 12 percent. The sex ratio census shows that there are 951 females per 1000 male in the district.
The Tengnoupal district has a geographically strategic location that also helps in the installation of government infrastructures in the area.
