The value of homeopathy lies in its cost-effectiveness as its low in cost everybody can afford it. In the country like India for many people using medicine for any disease is just luxury. In this circumstances homeopathy has brought a disparity.
Another value is, it has no side effect. It is made diluted and then use as remedy, because of this reason very low ingredient passes to the body of the individual. This is also very beneficial to the children as they are not capable of taking the strong medicines.
The value of homeopathy in chronic conditions has been demonstrated in several studies. A comprehensive analysis of outcome and cost-effectiveness showed that chronically ill patients had a better overall outcome with homeopathic than with conventional care. Another large-scale observational study showed a positive impact of homeopathy on the health status in a substantial proportion of patients suffering from a wide range of different chronic diseases. To our knowledge, no large comparative cohort studies have been performed to investigate the outcome of homeopathic treatment for acute illnesses.
However some studies suggest that homeopathic treatment is at least as effective as conventional treatment for acute complaints of the upper and lower respiratory tract. The aim of the other study was to evaluate on an international basis and in a large sample size if homeopathic treatment is non-inferior to conventional treatment in patients with acute respiratory and ear complaints.
Homeopathy is sometimes effective for the treatment of influenza, allergies, post-operative ileums and childhood diarrhoea. However, there is a lack of conclusive evidence on the effectiveness of homeopathy for most medical conditions. Homeopathy deserves an open-minded opportunity to demonstrate its value by using evidence-based principles.
