![]() Christabelle Howie at Miss Universe 1991 Born Christabelle Nithila Howie on May 18, 1969 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Howie won the Femina Miss India Universe title in the year 1991. A few months later, on May 17, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, she represented India in the Miss Universe beauty pageant, competing alongside 72 contestants. At the preliminary competition in the pageant, Christabelle scored 7.60 in the Swimsuit Round, 8.60 in the Interview Round, 8.11 in the Evening Gown Round, averaging 8.103 overall. She ended up a finalist in the contest. Post Modelling Career of Christabelle Howie After the Miss Universe 1991, Christabelle Howie started a career in the Marketing and Advertising industry. She initially ran an event management agency, and later worked as CSD at the New York City-based advertising, marketing and public relations agency Ogilvy and Mather, in Chennai. She served in Lowe Lintas as senior Associate Vice-President, where she handled brands such as Ford, Hutch Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Sify and IBM. She later joined Grey Group India in Chennai in 2008, as Branch Head. Having worked in various agencies such as JWT, Young & Rubicam (Y&R) and O&M, Howie has an experience of over 2 decades in working across various sectors in media, such as advertising, direct marketing, database and response management. She is currently serving in Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Limited as Head Corporate Affairs.
